VILLAJOYOSA
A very ancient and picturesque town 10 km from Benidorm. The houses in the old part of the city, on the coast, are painted in different colors, many are trying to this day to find an explanation for this. But one thing is clear, they definitely give a peculiarity and the town is remembered for a long time.
Is there anything historical in Villajoyosa? Of course there is: the Roman Funeral Tower, which is one of the most important Roman monuments in Spain. The church-fortress of the 16th century, as well as the church of Asuncion in the Gothic style. Towers and fortress walls are also located nearby.
From the most ancient: the ruins of the Roman baths of the 2nd century AD and the olive tree, which is about 1400 years old, making it one of the oldest in the Valencian region. The city also has an interesting archaeological museum and the house-museum of the Aragonese family of the 17th century with private exhibits.
Of course, Villajoyosa is famous for its chocolate traditions: the city produces Valor and Marcos Tonda, famous throughout Spain traditional сhocolate brands. The city also has a free chocolate museum Valor, where you will learn everything about chocolate and its preparation, as well as try original tastes that are not found in ordinary supermarkets.
Well, what about the beach? Villajoyosa has a wonderful sandy beach where it is pleasant to walk, admiring the colorful streets and nature, breathing in the magical aroma of chocolate.
