FINESTRAT
Finestrat is one of the amazing towns on the Costa Blanca, its old village is located 17km from Benidorm.
Like many Spanish settlements, Finestrat survived the raids of the Berbers. Pirates burned the villages, and the inhabitants were turned into slaves. To protect against invaders, an observation tower (La Cala) was built on the shore, and the main part of the city relocated at the foot of the mountain, which is where the old town part can be visited nowadays. Thanks to this, Finestrat became known as the “city of the sea and mountains”. Today locals live a quiet measured life and receive tourists from all over the world.
Usually tourists visit both parts of the town, to have a complete picture of this wonderful town.
There is always something to see in the historical Finestrat: the church of 1751, the watchtowers of the 17th century, the chapel, their walls remember the cries of the invaders, the streets are saturated with the spirit of antiquity, and walking along them it seems that knights on horseback are about to come out from around the corner.
Also there is a mountain source of clean water, several viewpoints with breathtaking views of the sea and mountains, local markets, cozy shops with souvenirs, a sandy beach and much more awaits you in Finestrat!
